Photographic Portrait Series: “The Porch”
The Porch” was where we heard the latest gossip, talked politics, cracked jokes, and listened to good music. The CD has been reshaped by gentrification, and although sharing intimate experiences on a porch is becoming a past time memory, its meaning and purpose remains. “I may not be able to change gentrification, but I can help shape it,” says Vivian Phillips. Through photography, UAC vividly shows the significance of “The Porch” in the Black community. Gentrification of the Central District is the focus of this editorial-style photoshoot.
View UAC's work during open hours in May, Friday-Sunday, 11am-5pm
Closing party for this artist collective is Sunday, May 26, 2pm-8pm
